Today I want to give you 3 things to look out for which confirm you’re losing body fat successfully.
1. Site Measurements & Comparisons
Taking regular measurements of your waistline is a great place to begin. Generally speaking, when anybody loses body fat their waistline is one site measurement that decreases consistently. This is because a lot of body fat is held around the belly button, sides, and lower back. Measure this every 5-7 days.
With photos compare sites as well. For instance, if you hold a lot of fat (relatively speaking) on the lower area of your back taking updated photos of this area will show you if changes are taking place. Again, take progress photos every 5-7 days.
2. Sustainable Energy Output
Remember I said “successful fat loss” in the title. This means doing it in a fashion that allows for continued progress and optimized performance. Seeing that your waist measurement is going down whilst maintaining good energy output is a great sign that you've got the right balance. Constantly feeling sluggish, low on energy, and not wanting to train shows you're probably under fuelled! Yes, you can reach this point but that is usually when you're EXTREMELY lean towards the end of a diet.
3. Incremental Weight Loss
Steady, consistent weight loss which is incremental is generally a great sign that you're dropping fat. When you get aggressive drops in weight that usually points to an excessive loss in muscle glycogen, fluid, and even muscle tissue. You will also learn what is a “normal” rate of fat loss for your body, based on the above factors we’ve discussed. It isn’t about making the scales move at all costs, instead, it is about sustained progress which also allows you to protect your muscle mass.
